AfrAsia and MasterCard join hands for Mauritius’ first travel rewards programme

Africa’s first travel rewards program offers real time booking on over 450 airlines and at 200,000 hotels to the bank’s MasterCard customers holding world and titanium cards.

Mauritius-based financial major AfrAsia has notched up yet another first to its credit, launching a travel rewards programme which makes it a pioneer not only in the island economy, but also across Africa.

In addition to flights, hotel stays and car rentals location worldwide for free, cardholders have access to an extensive range of benefits including lifestyle experiences, local rewards and online merchandise, among others.

Africa’s first travel rewards program offers real time booking on over 450 airlines and at 200,000 hotels to the bank’s MasterCard customers holding world and titanium cards. AfrAsia and MasterCard have partnered with Infinia Services & Solutions to enable cardholders to earn XtraMiles whenever they swipe their credit cards.

Moreover, customers who are already members of individual airlines’ loyalty schemes stand to double their rewards, as they will earn rewards on those schemes as well when paying with their qualifying MasterCard travel cards.

James Benoit, CEO, AfrAsia Bank, said the bank believes it is important to anticipate customers’ needs and wants, and tailor the most rewarding experiences for them.

He added that AfrAsia was thrilled to be the first bank not only in Mauritius but in the African territory to introduce this revolutionary travel rewards program.

Daniel Monehin, Division President, sub-Saharan Africa, MasterCard noted that MasterCard and AfrAsia Bank have collaborated for more than six years to bring customers innovative products that complement their local and international lifestyles.

Members will be able to access AfrAsia XtraMiles rewards program through a simple online portal. Monthly statements and exclusive offers will be posed on the portal and can be redeemed as soon as they accrue.

To conclude, Prashant Khattar, Managing Director, Infinia Services and Solutions, noted that the company offers its customers’ customers both a wide range of products and services and also a knowledge base to document behavioral spending.
