Bank of Mauritius survey shows net foreign assets at Rs118.52bn on Dec 12

Mauritius’ central bank released on December 23, 2014 the Bank of Mauritius survey as on December 12, 2014, which showed that net foreign assets are estimated at Rs118.52billion.
These comprised claims on non-residents amounting to Rs118.68billion, less liabilities to non-residents amounting to Rs 157 million.
Domestic assets are disaggregated as Claims on Other Depository Corporations, Net Claims on Central Government, and Claims on Other Sectors.
Claims on Other Depository Corporations are estimated at Rs2.36 billion while net claims on the central government stood at Rs 21.61 billion with Rs 4.62 billion for claims on Central Government and deducing liabilities to Central Government of Rs 26.23 billion.
Claims on other sectors and monetary base amounted to Rs 232 million and Rs 61.80billion respectively.
Concerning the monetary base, it comprised of Rs 28.61 billion for currency in circulation, Rs33.06 billion for liabilities to Other Depository Corporations and liabilities to other sectors amounted to Rs128 million.
In addition, securities other than shares included in broad money amounted to Rs 1.89 billion, deposits excluded from broad money amounted to Rs 58million and Rs 1 million for securities other than shares excluded from broad money.
Finally, central bank data also showed that shares and other equity – which is essentially equity capital and reserve complied by the bank consisting of equity, general and special reserves – stood at the level of Rs17.88 billion.
