The second annual meeting of the International Advisory Board (IAB) was held last week to reflect on key sectors and strategies that can be game changers for Mauritius. Chaired by the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Xavier-Luc Duval, the meeting was held on October 4 at Le Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel in Port Louis.
The IAB is a high-level forum set up by the Board of Investment (BOI), Mauritius’ primary investment promotion agency, to assist in graduating Mauritius from a middle income developing country to a higher income developing one. Talks centered on enhancing connectivity and leveraging development of new sectors as global investors are increasingly eyeing Mauritius as their first partner for investing in Africa.
The IAB is also assisting the BOI in identifying and developing future pillars of the economy, proposing policies that will enhance the competitiveness of Mauritius as a global business platform and developing a network of contacts that will help BOI reach business leaders who can contribute to the development of the island nation.
The forum took up the thread of discussion from the first meeting of the International Advisory Board that was held in May last year.
