Botswana and Seychelles have signed a protocol to amend the two countries’ Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital gains. Botswana High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr Kenny Kapinga and the Seychelles High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr Claude Morel signed the Protocol recently in Pretoria, South Africa.
The protocol was signed to make the Botswana-Seychelles Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement compliant with international standards on transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes with specific reference to the global forum on transparency and exchange on information for tax purposes.
Through this protocol, Botswana and Seychelles will be able to exchange information for tax purposes. The two high commissioners signed the Protocol on behalf of the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Kenneth Matambo, and the Minister for Finance, Trade and Investment of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Pierre Laporte respectively.
