COMESA SMEs toolkit to attract US$1bn trade
THE Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) SME toolkit Zambia, has projected to attract about US$1 billion worth of trade and investment at the coming Chinese International Fair.
COMESA SME toolkit coordinator Edwin Zulu said the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) projects to attract between $500,000 and $1 billion worth of investment and trade from China during the international fair which will be held in that country in September.
“During the event, we also expect the participation of between 7,000 and 15,000 Chinese businesses and it is important for the SMEs to take advantage of the many business opportunities in China,” Mr Zulu said.
He said the international fair for investment and trade would take place in September this year in Xiamen and offers an opportunity for the SMEs to market their products as well as woo joint venture partnerships.
Mr Zulu said the event provided an opportunity for finding business investment partners, technology or product suppliers.
He said such kind of a forum would accord the SMEs chance to partner with the Chinese firms, especially those involved in the manufacturing and construction industries.
Mr Zulu said the COMESA SME Toolkit and ELIF Business Solutions Limited and Zambia Chamber of Small and Medium Businesses Association(ZCSMBA), Kitwe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), successfully facilitated the participation of at least 30 SMES and businesses from Zambia and Malawi.
It is with this background that once again, Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has partnered with the SME toolkit Zambia and ELIF Business Solutions Limited to facilitate the effective participation of the Zambian private sector at this important investments and trade promotion event.
Mr Zulu added that in making this initiative successful ELIF business solution has partnered with Ethiopian airlines, China fair organising team and the Xiamen Mingfa Davies hotel to offer attractive fees for the SMEs.
