An awards ceremony was held at the Emirates office in Port-Louis on Friday May 16, 2014, to give due recognition to the Mauritian travel agencies working most closely with the Dubai-based airlines.
During the ceremony the Outstanding Performance Award for 2013-14 was won by Blue Sky Travel, Atom Travel Services was handed the Outstanding Sales Award, whereas Concorde Travel was both part of best agents and received the Outstanding Performance Award in Market Growth.
“Since the beginning of Emirates’ operations in Mauritius, a lot has been achieved. We started with three flights in September 2002 and now operate double daily flights to the island,” said Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates’ Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands, who handed over the awards.
“One of these is serviced by our flagship A380, which is growing in popularity in the Mauritian market,” he added.
Moreover, representatives of the top ten agents – Blue Sky Travel, Atom Travel Services, Silver Wings Travel, S. Naz Travel & Tours, Holiday Planners Travel Agency, Arcadia Travel, Le Voyageur Travel and Tours, Ace Travel, Garudas Travel and Tours, and Concorde Travel – also received a certificate of appreciation from Emirates.
“We are the No. 1 international carrier and this is largely thanks to you. We recognize your support and contribution in making this happen,” noted Oomar Ramtoola.
Emirates has, till date, announced five new passenger routes for 2014-15 including Abuja, Brussels, Chicago, Kano and Oslo. Last year, nine new destinations were launched covering Boston, Clark, Conakry, Haneda, Kabul, Kiev, Sialkot, Stockholm and Taipei.
“With new routes constantly being added to the Emirates’ network, there will certainly be more opportunities for our travel agents,” he concluded.
