GFA Insurance, which is engaged mainly in the business of car insurance, announced the launch of an awareness campaign on road safety, Guidoto, short for “Guide Auto.”

The campaign aims at encouraging users, in particular professional drivers, to be more responsible on the road – both for their own sake as well as for those close to them.

The kick-off event for this campaign, which will be spread out over several months, was conducted by the Minister of public infrastructure, Nando Bodha. The campaign encompasses several activities intended to prevent road accidents.

The Guidoto campaign runs under the slogan: “The road of assurance”, which is an appeal for good driving conduct, encouraging drivers to follow the rules, whatever be the traffic or road conditions.

“As insurance providers, we feel that it is our duty to make drivers responsible, given the human and material loss that a road accident can cause”, underlined Abdel Ruhomutally, Managing Director of GFA Insurance.

He added, “only a responsible attitude can create traffic safety and save human lives.”

A reference notebook containing practical advice for drivers is one of the key points of the campaign and the document will serve as a guide to improve knowledge regarding road regulations.

Guidoto also comes with a quiz on road safety with a Facebook application specially designed for the purpose. The competition will be spread out over eight consecutive weeks as from 27 May 2015, where the winner of every edition will get a tablet.
GFA Insurance also called on theatrical artists to illustrate its various messages of road safety and accident prevention. The Komiko group contributed with a play of eight minutes, which can be accessed on the Facebook and YouTube platforms of GFA Insurance, and on the website of Guidoto as well.

Finally, this initiative of GFA Insurance obtained the collaboration of several actors and facilitators of road traffic: the ministry of public infrastructure, the Association of Professional Driving Instructors, Taxi Proprietors and the Drivers Union.
