Global Desi opens its first Mauritian store

Global Desi, the India inspired colourful boho chic brand by well-established Indian fashion house And Designs India Ltd, has now gone international with its first store in Mauritius at the Bagatelle Mall on September 23.
Reaching out to fashionistas beyond Indian shores, the brand made its international debut with a store spanning 1100 sq. feet in Mauritius’ most premium mall. The store offers the latest trends of the season with print jumpsuits, graphic print skirts and dresses, colourful tunics, maxis and more.
Crafted by leading Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre in 2007, the fashionably young brand already boasts 48 standalone stores and presence across 130 multi brand outlets including retail majors like Pantaloons, Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle and Central and so on.
The women-centric brand juxtaposes colourful Indian fabrics with clean western cuts resulting in quirky creations that combine the best of both worlds.
Anita Dongre, Creative Director, Global Desi, expressed her excitement at her brainchild going global. She emphasized that the youth-centric brand has always celebrated the free spirited adventurous girl, whose persona is as eclectic as the colours and prints that she wears.
She said that it gave her great joy to bring the brand’s trendy, cutting-edge fashion philosophy to Mauritius and to welcome on board the global fashion fraternity.
Sangita Rohira, CEO, Global Desi said that approximately 12 more stores were on the anvil for the current calendar year including in Tier II cities in India like Kochi, Guwahati and Baroda. Besides new international markets were also likely to be covered, thus turning Global Desi into a truly global brand.
Global Desi was founded in 2007 and comes under the umbrella of And Designs India Ltd. (ADIL). Now one of India’s leading fashion houses, ADIL was founded in 1998 by a trio of leading designers – Anita Dongre, Meena Sehra & Mukesh Sawlani. Its flagship brand AND, a high street fashion brand, was launched by Anita Dongre in the same year.
