Holcim in Mauritius to remain independent and will not merge with Lafarge
Holcim (Mauritius) has issued a communiqué to clarify a misunderstanding that has arisen in the market, announcing to the public that the company is independent from LafargeHolcim on the cement market in Mauritius, thus guaranteeing the existence of the entity which will continue to be the competitor of LafargeHolcim in Mauritius.
Further to the erroneous and harmful information which is circulating in the cement market pertaining to Holcim (Mauritius) Ltd, the company has specified in a communiqué that it is an independent company and will stay separate from LafargeHolcim on the cement market in Mauritius.
Even if an agreement in principle was granted by the Competition Commission of Mauritius (CCM) on the principle of the sale by Holcim Outre Mer of the shares it holds in the capital of Holcim (Mauritius), this project was not confirmed and does not in anyway bring to question the existence of the entity which was, is, and will be the competitor of LafargeHolcim in Mauritius.
Holcim (Mauritius Ltd) is a legal entity in Mauritius which operates, since the date of merger of Lafarge Limited Company in Paris with Holcim Ltd in Zurich, independently of the LafargeHolcim Group, with the formation of a separate holding company under the supervision of the CCM.
The company reserves the right of action against all those who communicate in the name of Holcim (Mauritius Ltd) and as well as against all those who propagate false insinuating information that both Mauritian cement majors merged and that Holcim ( Mauritius Ltd) will close its doors, leading to the disappearance of the brands of cement Kolos and Ecocem.
Holcim Mauritius Ltd has reassured its clientele as well as the public by reaffirming that it will continue to supply the local market with cement at competitive prices and standard quality under the brand names of Kolos and Ecocem.
