Mauritius-based industrial gas firm Les Gaz Industriels (LGI) recently inaugurated its first showroom in Grande Rivière North-West in line with the one stop-shop concept.
The showroom was inaugurated by Commerce Minister Cader Sayed-Hossen, in the presence of the chairman of the LGI board, Antoine Louis Harel and LGI managing director Jérôme Commins, together with partners and customers of the company representing the industrial and medical sectors, as well as government representatives.
During the inauguration ceremony of the showroom, LGI presented a new range of products of its partner, the Swedish industrial firm ESAB, which serves to enrich its product offering.
“We regularly modernise our equipment and use cutting-edge technology for the production of liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide, as well as for every type of gas we produce locally or import,” said Commins.
According to management, the new space is dedicated to customers to allow them a better overview of the new products and technologies of the company.
Besides, it can be used to facilitate the process of order and delivery and is also duly equipped with a workshop to provide a detailed product demonstration to customers.
Les Gaz Industriels is considered a leader in Mauritius and in the Indian Ocean region in its sector of operation, which is the production and distribution of industrial gases, medical gases and equipment, as well as welding consumables.
The entire process, from production through installation to distribution, is certified to the highest international standards, as represented by ISO 9001.
The company has approximately 80 employees and adheres strictly to safety standards.
“Our vision is to develop further and become the major company in the gas and welding equipment field locally as well as in the region. We launched this new showroom, ‘Weld’One’, to make our products more visible, facilitate the order process and thus better satisfy our clientele,” Jérôme Commins mentioned.
About Les Gaz Industriels Ltd (LGI)
Les Gaz Industriels Ltd is a 62 year-old company which is listed on the Development and Enterprise Market (DEM) of the stock exchange of Mauritius.
It was incorporated in April 1952 as a private company with the core aim of producing oxygen and acetylene for metal cutting and welding purposes.
Eleven years later, African Oxygen Ltd (Afrox) acquired a majority stake in the business and LGI seized upon the opportunity to hugely diversify its activity into a wide range of products. LGI now manufactures, sells and delivers medical and industrial gases in bulk and in cylinders, as well as welding electrodes.
The company launched in 2008 a subsidiary in Madagascar, an initiative which illustrates the ambition of the company for regional expansion.
Les Gaz Industriels has among its customers: health service providers — both public and private, entrepreneurs in construction, hotels, sugar and other domains, as well as suppliers of navy equipment. The products of the company are used in the fields of medical care, air conditioning and cold storages, welding and industrial production.
