Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility program has remitted a cheque of Rs 500,000 to the SOS Children’s Village in Bambous in the presence of First Lady, Sarojini Jugnauth, and Anup K Mudgal, High Commissioner of India, on 08 June 2015.
SOS children’s Village, which aims at helping children without parental support in Mauritius, welcomes brothers and sisters without parental support within their villages in Beau Bassin and Bamboo.
It is in line with this philosophy, to help SOS Children’s Villages in its activities, that the Mauritian branch of Life Insurance Corporation of India has remitted a cheque of Rs 500,000 under its CSR activities.
LIC believes firmly that it is necessary to come to the assistance of people who are in the vulnerable segment of society so that the latter in turn can also contribute to build a better nation.
In line with this thinking, the company assists NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) which operate in the field of health, education and child care.
Dabeecharun, the director of SOS Children’s Villages Mauritius, added: “The support from the Life Insurance Corporation of India is valuable indeed. To obtain financing is relatively complex, and we welcome corporate donations with pleasure. It allows us to bring our activities to a successful conclusion so as to offer a convenient environment for the evolution of children through programs and activities.”
Indeed, this donation will allow SOS Children’s Villages to finance family houses, and to guarantee essential needs of the children, which includes a balanced meal for the latter, medical support and financing the daily activities of the present families in the village.
Also present at the occasion was Biswajeet Ganguly, Chief Manager LIC of India, who said: “We in LIC believe in Peoples’ Money for Peoples’ Welfare.”
