LUX* cares for deprived children with donation of Rs 1641048 under CSR program
Healthcare, environment and education of deprived children are certain areas that Mauritius-based LUX* Island Resorts Ltd has chosen to support this year within the framework of its
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
The Mauritius-based LUX* hospitality group proceeded with a donation ceremony on July 31st at its head office in Floreal, during which Rs 1,641,048 was handed over to 9 NGOs.
Vishnee Payen, Sustainability and CSR manager at LUX, highlighted: “Within the framework of its strategy for sustainable development and corporate social responsibility (CSR), LUX* Resorts and Hotels came to the fore with this project titled ‘Ray of Light’. Through this initiative, the head office and all group hotels undertook projects, events and activities which go beyond traditional CSR. This project has the objective of giving a glimmer of hope to those who are needy, and innovation is one of the key elements of our success,” she noted.
She also explained that the Mauritian society is one of the stakeholders of the hotel group and it is essential to support organisations that work for the betterment of Mauritius.
“LUX* Resorts and Hotels chose to support these associations and these schools because it believes in their intent to make a difference in the lives of the people or the causes which they support,” she noted.
The beneficiaries of LUX* donation – Thalassemia Society Ltd, l’Ecole Pailles en Queue, l’Atelier Joie de Vivre Chemin Grenier, le Centre d’Eveil of Souillac, l’Ecole de la Vie of Baie du Tombeau, le Centre d’Eveil de Mangalkhan, the Mauritian Wildlife Federation and Elles C Nous – received cheques for a total amount of Rs 820,524 from LUX* Belle Mare, LUX*Grand Gaube, LUX* Le Morne, Tamassa, Merville Beach, LUX* Resorts & Hotels, LUX* Environment Group and the LUX* Social Group respectively.

“The financial support offered by LUX* Resorts and Hotels is going to support us in our approach which is to help the children who come to our association. We offer to the latter a brunch after school hours as well as a complete meal every Saturday and during school holidays. Besides, we think that education contributes to the success of the individual and it is from this angle that we are going to offer remedial courses to these children,” highlighted Abdool Kader, the president of the Elles C Nous association.
