Mauritian hospitality chain Lux Island Resorts Ltd has made a commitment to promote sustainable development.
LUX* has adopted G4 criteria under the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This initiative proposes a framework for the reporting of performance beyond mere financials. The G4 version focuses on transparency of data presented to stakeholders.
More than 6,000 organizations, across over 90 countries, follow GRI guidelines.
“The adoption of GRI guidelines gives us a coherent reference point to communicate our commitment to the community and the planet. Our annual report for 2014 is presented in the form of an integrated report, combining social and environmental impact of the group,” notes Vishnee Payen, Sustainability and CSR manager.
The latter explains that LUX* supports economic development, social commitment and environmental impact of the destinations where it operates.
“To assure sound implementation of our strategies the integrated report based on GRI guidelines is a useful tool because it allows to take into consideration improvements in management, which cannot otherwise be measured. We can also take corrective action if the company is going away from its objectives,” highlighted Vishnee Payen.
LUX* has set several goals in terms of sustainable development at the start of 2015 while using the achievements of 2013-2014 as a reference base.
Within the hotel group, sustainability practices are important because they protect resources and community relations through dialogues between the stakeholders.
