Go green for a different cause with the Green Friday #WEARE1NE campaign against global terrorist attacks!
Conceived by Africa 2.0 in partnership with AllAfrica, and disseminated in the island economy by Mauritius-based conglomerate ABAX, this campaign aims at uniting the voice of everyone and at mobilising collective action at the world level against terrorist attacks in Nigeria and other African countries.
The #WEARE1NE campaign, which is starting today January 30, 2015 in Mauritius, aims to encourage the public to wear green all day long, and to take ‘selfies’ or group photos with their index finger up symbolizing the ‘Number 1’ as a sign of unity and solidarity.
To participate in this campaign you just have to share your photos on all the social networks by using the hashtag #WEARE1NE, and if you are African or of African origin add the hashtag FABA (For Africa By Africa) and #WEARE1NE.
Furthermore, the public is also encouraged to participate and to propose constructive and peaceful solutions based on tolerance so as to tackle this problem at its root.
This campaign is inspired by an African philosophy, ‘UBUNTU’ which means “I am what I am because of who we all are”, and wearing green symbolizes the color of Africa and solidarity, ‘one for all and all for one’.
The Chief Business Development Officer of ABAX, Nousrath Bhugeloo, professed himself delighted to be able to support his African colleagues through this initiative.
“This awareness campaign includes people throughout the world. This could be an ideal platform to develop and put forward practical and creative strategies to improve the actual situation in Africa. It is important that everyone remains united to denounce these atrocities, which have cost thousands of people their very lives,” he concluded.
#WEARE1NE is a global initiative aiming to foster, cultivate and advance initiatives that unite humanity worldwide, and address issues that affect the quality of life for citizens globally regardless of their race, gender, culture or religious belief.
