Mauritius and Belgium to explore further investment possibilities

The Ocean economy was at the centre of discussions whereby much emphasis were laid on developing further this sector for which Mauritius has already developed a roadmap which hinges around seven priority areas namely: seabed exploration for hydrocarbons; fishing; seafood processing and aquaculture; deep ocean water application; marine services; seaport related activities; marine renewable energies and ocean knowledge.(Image: rhinoafrica)

Mauritius and the Kingdom of Belgium will further collaborate to explore different avenues of cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

This was at the fore of discussions during a courtesy call paid by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Koenraad Adam, on February 25, 2015 to the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.
Both parties expressed interest to collaborate in various areas so as to entice more Belgian businesses to invest in Mauritius and vice versa.

In a statement after the courtesy call, Ambassador Koenraad Adam, spoke on the existing friendly ties between the two countries based on the shared interests and values such as democracy, common vision on many issues and mutual respect.

Finally, he expressed his satisfaction with regards to the presence of a delegation of Belgian businesses in Mauritius this week to meet prospective business partners.

According to him, this will help enhance and expand export horizons between the two countries.
