As the aviation sector evolves and expands rapidly, Mauritius can expect to take advantage of multiple career prospects emerging in this sector.

Flymates, an aviation-training center dedicated to honing skills of aviation staff, is offering several courses in this rapidly taking-off sector.

As the first IATA authorised training centre in Mauritius, Flymates delivers courses such as Flight Attendant Courses intended for aspiring stewards and the stewardesses; ‘Dolly Agent Foundation’ for jobs in travel agencies, reservation counters of airline companies, tour operators and call centres in aviation ; and finally, Airport Operations Fundamentals.

Since end-2014, Flymates serves as the exclusive partner of Amadeus in Mauritius, the leader in management systems for the distribution and sale of the services in the aviation sector.

This makes Flymates the only center authorized to dispense Amadeus courses to the public.

The training is directly conducted on the system and those taking part in the examinations will receive a certificate issued by Amadeus, an internationally recognised institution based in South Africa.

Within the framework of its expansion, Flymates also plans to propose to its students the option of having one diploma awarded in Aviation Studies by completing four courses in IATA, which will allow them to have more in-depth knowledge and will give them the right launchpad to aspire to a career in aviation.

According to Ground2Air, an Ireland Blyth Ltd (IBL) group subsidiary offering ground-handling services, there are thousands of career opportunities at the airport. Therefore, Ground2Air has also created its own training center, Ground2Air Training Academy.

These courses are also certified by IATA and by the MQA. They integrate a theoretical segment into class trainings and also incorporate practical, on-the-ground experience. Moreover, courses available on Ground2Air Training Academy that deserve special mention are those that deal with Airline Passenger Service, Air Cargo Boat Training Schedules, Airport Ramp Services and Airport Operations.
