Mauritius’ Brasmer & India’s Metropolis tie-up for world-class pathology services

Mauritius-based Brasmer Corporation and India’s Metropolis Healthcare Ltd, the pathology specialist chain, unveiled last week their plans to set-up a joint venture, with an initial investment of Rs 50 million.
The joint venture will be called Metropolis Brasmer Lab Services Mauritius where the central laboratory will be located on the premises of Apollo Bramwell Hospital, while pathology services will be made available across patients in the hospital, as well as Mauritian citizens requiring the benefit of pathology diagnostics.
Furthermore, to begin with, Metropolis Healthcare will also open one central laboratory with collection points across the Indian Ocean Region, covering Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles and Reunion.

Speaking at the occasion of the joint venture announcement, the director of Metropolis Brasmer Lab Services, Mauritius, Claudio Feistritzer-Rawat, said that there is a growing need for quality diagnostics in Mauritius.
“Our understanding of the market, combined with the expertise of Metropolis Healthcare in global healthcare diagnostics will help us to bridge that gap, while ensuring affordability and quality,” she added.
Metropolis also plans to set up 25 collection points across these locations in the coming year, with focus on providing quality diagnostic facilities to the region.
For her part, Ameera Shah, Managing Director & CEO Metropolis Healthcare Ltd, said “As India’s most respected chain of pathology laboratories, we are looking at 1,000 tests being performed locally in Mauritius.”
