Serving as a platform to demonstrate various innovations and applications of different countries, the 8th NTA ICT World Communication Summit & Awards 2014 and the 2nd Global ICT Forum will be hosted on 23 and 24 July 2014 in Mauritius.
Organized by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, the half-day workshop had as its objective to explain what the NTA ICT World Communication Summit & Awards and the Global ICT Forum are all about.
“Over the last few years it has been the policy of Government to open the borders of the Mauritian ICT sector to businesses and partners across the globe. However, the road leading to where we stand now as an ICT leader of the region was not an easy one,” said Mauritius ICT Minister Tassarajen Pillay, in his opening address.
“We have strived hard and are still working hard to not only be a better example for many in the region but most importantly, to make the ICT sector the major pillar of our economy,” he pointed out.
Organized by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology in collaboration with CMAI Association and ITU APT Foundation of India, the forum will also provide participants the chance to have a glance at global innovations and consider adoption in their respective countries as also to arm themselves against cyber threats.
Furthermore, during the workshop, NK Goyal, the President of the Communication Multimedia and Infrastructure (CMAI) and Chairman Emeritus of Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association of India (TEMA), presented an interactive presentation on ‘Leveraging on India’s success in the field of ICT/BPO to position Mauritius as a regional ICT hub’.
The CMAI NTA ICT World Communication Awards have been given out for the last eight years. They are the most sought after and prestigious industry awards to identify, acknowledge, and recognize outstanding contributions to the field of ICT.
These awards are known to provide greater encouragement and impetus to the players for their contribution in building a robust National Telecom Network and providing an effective means of communication.
