Mauritius dominates global travel website Tripadvisor’s list of top 25 hotels in Africa
The island paradise clearly dominated the list complied by global travel website Tripadvisor for the Top 25 hotels in Africa, with 10 of them being from Mauritius, 6 from South Africa, 3 from Morocco and Tanzania each, 2 from Seychelles, and finally, only 1 hotel from Kenya. Global travel website Tripadvisor has named the winners of its 2015 Travellers’ Choice awards, with Mauritius and South Africa having cornered the lion’s share of of the Top 25 Hotels in Africa.
The island paradise clearly dominated the list as, out of the Top 25 hotels in Africa, 10 of them are from Mauritius, followed by South Africa with 6 hotels, Morocco 3 hotels, Tanzania 3 hotels, Seychelles 2 hotels and finally only 1 hotel in Kenya.
Furthermore, the top three African hotels on the list are all from Mauritius, namely Constance Le Prince Maurice; The Oberoi, Mauritius; and Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita.
Ranked at the 7th position were LUX Belle Mare; Tamassa Resort at the 9th position; The Residence Mauritius, Belle Mare was set at 11th place; LUX Le Morne, at 13th; LUX Grand Gaube 17th; Beachcomber Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa, Le Morne, at 21st; and finally, Constance Belle Mare Plage, Belle Mare, brought up the rear at 22nd place.
Besides TripAdvisor, Switzerland-based leading luxury tour operator Kuoni Travel has also released it 2015 trends report where Mauritius has retained its top title as the best destination for weddings in the world.
“Mauritius takes top spot in Kuoni’s top wedding destinations list for 2015, cementing a top-four position it has retained since 1999,” according to the annual report compiled by Kuoni.
“Despite the increase in choice of destinations and holiday types for weddings, ceremonies held in beach resorts remain ever popular. They offer unforgettable photo opportunities and reasonable prices. They are also usually lots of activities around beach resorts, while flight times are agreeable for families wishing to attend,” the report added.
Besides, Mauritius was ranked in the top 5 destinations out of 30 global tourist hotspots as the most sought-after honeymoon destination.
Ranked at the 5th place, Mauritius has outstripped South Africa and Seychelles by far, which have been set at the 21st and 26th place respectively.
Finally, the top 4 countries according to the report were Maldives which took top honours, followed by Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and finally, Sri Lanka.
