Hospitality hub Mauritius just got another jewel in its crown with the first Holiday Inn hotel being inaugurated on the island by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
The 140-room Holiday Inn Mauritius Airport, on the island’s picturesque south east coast, is just 700 metres from the new SSR International Airport.
With the revamped SSR International Airport having opened its doors in September this year, tourists can expect both state-of-the-art facilities immediately upon landing, as well as plush accommodation facilities clustered around the best-in-class aviation hub.
Jean-Eric Sirop, General Manager, Holiday Inn Mauritius Airport, said that the prime property, close to both the airport and Mauritius’ beautiful beaches, was expected to be popular among both business and leisure guests.
World-class hotels with proximity to the airport are especially the need of the hour for business travelers, who may be visiting the island nation for a limited time over an important meeting or business conference, and can be reasonably expected to prioritize convenient access to the airport.
With an eye on Mauritius’ growing business travel community, Holiday Inn Mauritius Airport welcomes them with 450sqm of meeting space, including a boardroom and four meeting rooms.
The hotel acknowledges its proximity to the airport by paying tribute to the history of aviation in Mauritius.
An in-house restaurant ‘1933’ is named after the year the first international flight was made from the island while bar lounge ‘Piper Navajo’ is named after the first type of plane used to link Mauritius island to Rodrigues island in 1972.
Incidentally, the hotel is IHG’s second in Mauritius and follows the InterContinental Resort Mauritius at the Bay of Balaclava.
