Mauritius hosts Infotech 2014 to create awareness on emerging technologies

Looking for an interesting event to liven up the weekend? You can catch the 21st edition of the Infotech, which is being held from November 27, 2014 to November 30, 2014 at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre in Pailles
With more than 32 Infotech players displaying cutting-edge products, the event seeks to create awareness on emerging technologies and provide business opportunities in the ICT sector.
Among the 32 exhibitors at Infotech 2014, some stalls to watch out for are Courts, Orange, Galaxy, Fastclick, Ebene Accelerator, Cash and Carry, Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB), Anglo African Systems, and DCL.
SELECT IT and INFOCLUB Ltd, represented by its Director Ramjan, said that the company is offering services under the aegis of the British Computer Society, which is available online not only for Mauritius but also internationally.
The second service is blended learning, which enables an interested individual to study technical courses at its training centre and also at home, and the third service consists of e-learning for students from Form 3 up to School Certificate (SC) level, where students can learn online with test papers.
Capfor Mauritius has made its presence felt for the first time at Infotech and its Human Resource Consultant, Renu Takoorahchand, is representing the company.
Renu Takoorahchand explained that Capfor is a recruitment agency and there are actually quite a few vacancies in the field of IT, management and accounting that the company is helping to fill.
Euro CRM, which has always participated at the Infotech, is represented by its senior recruitment officer Lucinda Sutton.
She explained that Euro CRM is present for recruitment and the company has more than 10 years of existence as one of the first call centres in Mauritius.
Charles Telfair Institute and University of Mauritius are also present at the event to showcase the different IT courses available at both universities for full-timers and part-timers.
Galaxy, which retails high-tech electronic appliances, is a regular participant at the Infotech, and is offering IT products at some of the most competitive prices at this year’s edition.
At the Mauritius Commercial Bank stand, the Juice product is being promoted, and MCB is generating awareness among its customers on how to use Juice products.
Concerning visitors’ opinions, most visitors found the event very interesting and some noted that there are more stands for placements and job offers, compared to last year.
All in all, over 100,000 people are expected to visit Infotech 2014, which is organised annually by the National Computer Board (NCB) under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
