Organised by the International Data Corporation, in partnership with the National Computer Board, State Informatics Limited, SimpliVity, Samsung, and the Westcon group Africa, the conference accommodated niche audience consisting of CIOs and senior IT leadership from a wide range of verticals that have a strong impact on IT related strategic decisions within an organisation.
The event provided an exclusive platform for participants to gain analytical insights into current and future end-user trends, priorities and growth areas within Mauritius’ technology environment.
In his address at the event, the Chief Technical Officer, Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation (TCI), Rajnish Hawabhay, said that in the new drive for innovation, the government’s policy is to provide the necessary tools and means to help harness the rapidly evolving technologies as new business models in private and public sector organisations are redefined as a result of digital empowerment.
Hawabhay stated that a national innovation framework has been developed with an initial budget of Rs 125 million for financial year 2015-2016.
This framework will enable a wide-range of stakeholders to engage with resources, connections and capabilities that are crucial to advancing innovations while fostering a culture of networking committed to the sharing of data and information and expertise, he said.
The strategic focus will be on innovation through an understanding of the priority areas of Mauritius and where Mauritian scientific, technological and social entrepreneurs can collaborate and maximise for a collective impact.
About CIO Networking Day Roundtables:
The roundtables are investigating hot-topic business and technology issues that impact delivery of technology in supporting business objectives. The three sessions are focusing on: total cost of ownership and how to turn technical advantages into economic benefits; mobilising workforce in a secure and manageable way; and, making innovation a business technology competency.
It may be noted that today’s technology leader is required to provide effective, reliable and efficient services as a matter of course.
Success, however, is increasingly defined on how well technology leaders contribute to the strategic and commercial objectives of their organisations.
