The MCB forward Foundation (MCBFF), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) wing of Mauritian financial services major MCB Group, has become the first ever CSR foundation to receive the ISO 9001 certification in the island economy, showcasing the group’s unwavering commitment to CSR.
The MCBFF was officially launched in September 2010 with the aim of more efficientlymanagingthe CSR activities of the group by adopting the necessary compliance practices andinternational best practicesina local context, and the MCB continues to develop its capacity to act towards and implement specific community-oriented measures for a better society.
The Foundation aims to help answer the social and environmental challenges of Mauritius as an island economy, and it has the mission of developing and supporting sustainable initiatives for the community with a viewto play an important role towards value creation for the social, environmental and economic well-being of the community.
With the new certification, the MCBFF has set up rigorous procedures to make sure that the highest quality of service is offered to NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and all individuals receiving benefits from the Foundation are subjected to constant evaluation of their work, such that bodies working with the MCBFF justify how they use funds received from the MCBFF.
With the French national organization for standardization, called the AFNOR, having provided its stamp of approval to the CSR activities of the group with its ISO 9001 certification, the MCB will now follow the approach recommended by AFNOR. AFNOR indicates an audit-centric approach focused on improving the efficiency of the organization and also favours active listening to and complete understanding of the culture and the practices of the organisation to highlight its strength, and detect any weaknesses.
