Showkutally Soodhun strengthen ties in the hydrocarbon sector with Indian Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas

The Indian Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Pradhan, has offered his support to develop the hydrocarbon sector in Mauritius and also offered services of specialised institutes in India for training and capacity building of manpower from Mauritius.  (Image: orissadiary).

Taking the opportunity of his visit for the 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in India, Vice Prime Minister of Mauritius Showkutally Soodhun met the Indian Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, on Friday 10, 2015 in his office in Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi.

During the meeting both sides have agreed to further strengthen the ties in the hydrocarbon sector, where Shri Pradhan has provided his support to develop the hydrocarbon sector in Mauritius and also offered services of specialised institutes in India for training and capacity building of manpower from Mauritius.

In that instance, the Vice Prime Minister of Mauritius has thanked Shri Pradhan for offering support in the development of an Ocean Economy.

Both sides have also expressed satisfaction that the entire requirement of petroleum products of Mauritius is met by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) India since 2006 with not a single instance of supply disruption.

While highlighting strategic closeness of both countries, the Petroleum Minister reiterated what the Prime Minister of India said during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, namely that Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary is observed in Mauritius with even greater vigor than it is observed in India.

Also present at the meeting were Senior officials of the Ministry of Pretroleum and Natural Gas, the Chairman & Managing Directors of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Gas authority of India Limited, Indian oil Corporation Limited and Managing Director of ONGC Videsh Ltd.
