Starting28 April 2015, the General Aviation Mauritius (GAM) Terminal at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius proposes an exceptional service to those wishing to travel without stress, by avoiding queues and getting priority service.

Aviation services major Veling group, which operatesthe YU lounge at the GAM Terminal, offers passengers availing this service the added convenience of completing all immigration related formalities from the comfort of the lounge itself.

The YU loungeis situated at the heart of the Mauritius airport and is endowed with a private room as well as a modern hangar which can simultaneously accommodate as many as four jets.

This hangar, which involved a USD 3 million investment, will be officially inaugurated next week during a ceremony in the presence of the Prime Minister and Tourism Minister of Mauritius.

“The YU experience is opento all,”said Nirvan Veerasamy, the co-founder of Veling group.

“Our services are intended both for commercial passengers as well as passenger-owners of private jets whereby those who travel on commercial flights can also take advantage of our private room and our apartment house services. Thus, they can serenely complete all the steps required for immigration within our terminal,”he noted.

“Contrary to a classic terminal where the traveller has to physically move from one point to another for every stage of his route, with the YU Lounge, he can now relax in the lounge, while our staff takes care offulfilling these formalities for him. And, once these formalities areover, our caretaker leads him directly to the plane,” stressed Nirvan Veerasamy.

The YULounge thus proposes a five-star service, which aims to be comparable to that offered in premier establishments across the country, so that the travellers experiences no gap in terms of the quality of service offering between business hotels and business class flights.

“Our servicesare the first and lastavailed by a passenger, because we take care of him from the time he steps off the plane, until his arrival to the hotel, and vice versa. We are thus partnering airline companies and hoteliers, and we share a common objective: to increase the popularity and enhance the image of Mauritius as the best destination and to encourage visitors to return to the island,”added Nirvan Veerasamy.

The YU Lounge, with its working crew of hostesses, caretakers and operators, offers a whole range of services— in particular an apartment house, a meeting room, showering space, relaxation arena, a catering service and even a duty-free store offering luxury brands.

With this infrastructure, the Veling grouptakes a step closer to realising the vision of the founders by being the first organisation to propose a complete and unique range of services in the region.

“Mauritius being a privileged destination for high-end tourists, we saw a real growth in the market for private jets. Each year, 200-300 planes of this category land in Mauritius. Our hangar aims at meeting this growing demand and at attracting the type of clientelethat demands their plane is accommodated in security before choosing their destination,”highlighted Nirvan Veerasamy.

“When the plane is in the hangar, it gives us the opportunity to add some value with services such as maintenance. Today, we have put Mauritius in a position where we are overtaking other airports in the region,”concluded Nirvan Veerasamy.

Finally, it may be noted that the YU Lounge is centred on client needs and such services shall attract an increasing influx of high-end tourists into Mauritius. Thus, today, beyond having 5-star hotels responding to the needs of well-heeled clients, Mauritius also has a 5-star hangar with a luxury lounge allowing tourists to enjoy every leg of their visit from setting foot in Mauritius till their return to their country.
